Jo and Ali caught up with Alistair at Sonar Group on Queen street.
Sonar have been operating for 3+ years and are growing at approximately 80% every year.
The name Sonar came about as it’s a combination of the 2 directors names and also relates to their work, to seek and search.
The offices are lovely, open plan with large arch windows (Ex Milo & Co office space).
The space is shared with Doherty Moore and Company DOMO Co, (directors are ex Y&R, BMW and Nissan).
The work: Web builds, digital refresh, re-brand, lead management, platform development, data-led marketing, web design & build, content, search, social, paid social, performance, optimisation, strategy, technology, integration and analytics.
Wordpress, PHP, Magento, ecommerce, open-source. No Adobe or Sitecore (for Vic Super Now digital manages this).

This is a hybrid role between PM and suit. Due to it being a small agency you will wear lots of hats, reporting to Alistair, own projects end to end, including developing strategic client relationship and seeing projects through to completion.
WordPress knowledge essential, they use a cloud-based PM software called Harvest for timesheets, smartsheets and forecasting.
The role will include traffic management, project scoping, quoting and invoicing, working in the CMS, pulling together teams, allocating resources. This opportunity would suit someone that understands data led marketing, reviewing, analytics, consumer behaviour and questioning why, what are the moving parts? How can we improve efficiencies? What are the measurement outcomes? Suggesting commercial solutions based on this data to clients.
You will be taking on smaller web, design and build projects, content, search and also assist Alistair on the larger digital transformation projects (for example Swinburne and Vic Super).
This role wouldn’t suit someone that wants a big agency vibe, there will be lots of autonomy and at times a very small team in the office. The ideal candidate will be accountable and trustworthy and keen to roll up their sleeves and be an instrumental team player. Alistair wants to be less hands-on day to day, so he can focus on new business and further developing and growing the agency.
