Public Relations and Media Lead
Working with this key government agency you wil be responsible for the following:
Lead and implement media and PR strategy to present information, advice and stories to position the organisation as a thought leader and a credible and trusted voice on a circular, climate-resilient economy.
Actively identify and develop proactive promotion and PR opportunities to drive increased awareness of the organisation and its work in major mainstream and digital media.
Lead communications issues management approach as required while building this capability more broadly in the team.
Develop and maintain relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, including journalists, and negotiate with stakeholders, peers, industry bodies and other government agencies to gain co- operation, influence views and meet timelines.
Lead the analysis and evaluation of all media and promotion efforts.
Working with key internal stakeholders (especially the Government Media Lead and the Social Impact
team), leverage the government agency's stakeholder partnerships from a media and promotions perspective to maximise the
organisation’s reach and impact.
Build organisational capability, including media training for key the organisations spokespeople, to identify and tell
inspirational stories that help drive behaviour change.
Skills and experience required:
Advanced written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated ability to develop cross-channel content for specific audiences
Proven successful development and delivery of coordinated media and promotional strategies to reach key target audiences through appropriate channels, using evidence and analysis
Proven experience in influencing and collaborating with critical stakeholders, including journalists and government executives to achieve strategic outcomes
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate staff to deliver outcomes, even if they are not direct reports
Ability to deliver under pressure and manage multiple projects in a changing and complex environment with competing stakeholders and timeframes.
Extensive experience in journalism and/or media relations management, including risk and crisis communications, with demonstrated understanding of the needs and decision-making processes of media outlets
