Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled freelance Senior Designer to lead the typesetting and layout production of our upcoming Annual Report. Working within the tourism and government enterprise sector, this year’s report focuses on a streamlined, clean, and highly professional aesthetic.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-level typesetting, strong typographic skills and a proven track record of handling multi-page corporate or government documentation. This project requires a stripped-back approach, shifting away from heavy imagery toward crisp, functional, and beautiful layout design.

Project Schedule and Flexibility

  • Availability: You must be fully available and dedicated on the specific days you are booked to work.
  • Working Hours: You must be active and available online during regular business hours on your scheduled work days to respond to real-time feedback. Working exclusively nights or weekends to complete the workload is not suited for this project.
  • Flexibility: There will be natural gaps between active design days while waiting on internal feedback. You will only bill for the days spent on the tools.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the end-to-end design, layout, and typesetting of the Annual Report.
  • Work closely with the internal Insights Manager who oversees the content and writing of the report.
  • Apply exceptional typographic and formatting skills to ensure complex information and tables are clear, legible, and visually balanced.
  • Adhere to a minimal, clean design brief, reducing heavy imagery in favour of high-quality editorial layouts.
  • Manage file versioning and integrate feedback from various internal stakeholders and departments efficiently.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Designer with a strong portfolio specifically showcasing annual reports, corporate publications, or editorial layouts.
  • Expert-level typography and typesetting skills.
  • Ability to commit to the entire duration of the project timeline (August through October) and adapt to the gaps in the workflow.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in a remote team environment during standard business hours.

* Note: Applicants MUST live in Australia with full working rights to be considered for this role.
