Brought Profitability to In-house Design Studio

Aquent Aquent

A global leader in retail finance struggled with their internal design studio to find the right balance of rates and costs to maintain adequate levels of profitability. Although this design studio was well known for producing great creative solutions for its customers, it consistently struggled with internal processes and lost money. The client’s senior leaders recognised that they needed talent to maintain the high level of creative the studio produced while quickly implementing a new model of doing business that was profitable.

After determining that this candidate would not come from an internal source, the client opted to outsource this role to Aquent.

Aquent quickly provided a studio manager with the expertise to redefine processes and make the design studio profitable.

The studio manager refined the workflows and intake process, recalibrated rates and expectations with clients, and drove the design studio from a loss to hundreds of thousands of dollars in bottom-line profitin less than a year.

The client allowed the studio manager to take on other initiatives within the organization typically only reserved for full-time staff. The studio manager has also revised the staffing model, allowing for additional contract hiring to take place, while still turning a profit. Ultimately, the studio manager was hired directly by the client and still leads the team today.
