Jr. Copywriter (SF)**

We’re helping a fantastic SF-based client find a Jr. Copywriter to join the corporate office in San Francisco. 

In this role,  you’ll collaborate with the creative and content teams to ensure that all copy representing their brand is clear, compelling, and in line with their identity — and that it speaks to the distinct needs of its intended audience.

You should be skilled in concepting, presenting, writing, and overseeing the creation of anything that goes out into the world with our name on it. You’ll craft, edit, and proof copy for all marketing copy. You are a natural communicator, a creative thinker, and a problem solver with skills in both writing and ideating for different media.

This role reports to the Corporate Content Manager. 

Day to day responsibilities: 

  • Write copy for email campaigns (subject lines, body text, calls to action) using a set of contextual parameters defined by marketing leads, such as audience, length, medium, and desired outcome.

  • Create copy for landing pages, banner ads, metadata, social media, and other types of web-based content, as well as print collateral.

  • Write all content in alignment with the Hornblower brand voice and guidelines.

  • Work with Content Manager to conceptualize and execute narratives for seasonal campaigns

  • Collaborate with our creative team on art direction, and ensure that words and images (or video, audio) complement one another to convey a clear message or tell an engaging story

  • Proactively suggest and implement ways to restructure or change content to better meet user needs based on feedback, performance, analysis, and observed trends in the media landscape


  • Minimum 1-2 years experience copywriting

  • Have a bachelor’s degree. Degree in creative writing, english, journalism, or marketing a plus, but not required.

  • A master of words and wit crafting creative, funny, and persuasive copy

  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates ability to conceptualize an idea and effectively execute it, as well as long-form copy samples.

  • Experience in both print and digital copy

  • Ability to take complex ideas and turn them into simple and fun text

  • Excellent grammar and proofreading skills

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines and multiple priorities

  • Creative thinker and problem solver

  • Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of projects

  • A sense of humor and humility

Nice to haves: 

  • Blogging or editorial experience

  • Agency experience
