Lead Business /Data Analyst with one of Fortunes’ top 50 Best Companies

 

12 month fixed term contract

 

Must be based in Sydney

We’re looking for a highly experienced data specialist with strong ability to glean insights and use their strong commercial acumen to inform strategic business decisions and develop complex strategic business initiatives for the sales team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Working across functional groups, self generating hypotheses via data and clearly communicating subsequent insights to senior leaders that drive business impact
  • Use your business domain knowledge in combination with data and analytics to lead projects, including market/category insights, experiment design, creating dashboards, measuring business results, and analysing customer behaviour
  • Analyse business needs and field requests from team members to provide data, analytics, insights, reporting & dashboards with high data quality to drive sales/business growth
  • Utilise multiple analytics tools and techniques based on business requirements. Analytics expertise includes (but are not limited to) performance variance testing, ROI measurement, statistical analysis, segmentation, and ML modeling (supervised and unsupervised).
  • Extract data using SQL from relational data-warehouses
  • Build jobs to extract, store and analyse data using Python or R.
  • Create dashboards and reports using visualisation tools (e.g.Qlik Sense, Tableau) and Google sheets
  • Derive data-driven insights and customer behaviour analysis
  • Explain and comment on performance variances using data
  • Assist in the maintenance of customer and master data

 

Skills and experience required:

 

  • 6+ years experience in analytics, with 1-2 years as a lead analyst
  • Advanced SQL (comfortable writing complex queries that combine data from various tables, e.g. CTEs, temporary tables).
  • Python or R programming experience
  • Strategic thinking – uncovering new opportunities for innovation and optimisation across the team with ownership of strategic initiatives from ideation to execution.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen – Excellent understanding of sales cycles and the sales funnel from acquisition to nurturing and conversion as well as reselling
  • Strong ability analysing and combining large complex datasets
  • Data wiz – strong Qlik Sense or Tableau skills
  • Data storyteller – strong ability to present complex data and insights concisely to various stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment focused on growth and the ability to balance multiple tasks at once..
  • Excellent written, verbal communication & presentation skills (at all levels in the organisation, including executives)
