Maternity Leave Contract | On-site | Melbourne CBD

We are looking for a senior graphic designer to join a fast-paced in-house creative team on a maternity leave contract.

This role is hands-on, on-site and very execution-driven, but it starts with ideas. You will be designing retail-led campaigns that live across physical spaces, signage, print, venue screens and supporting digital touchpoints.

This is not just an output based role, you need to bring ideas and concepts. It suits someone who genuinely enjoys designing for real-world environments and understands how concepts translate into finished artwork at scale.

Assignment details

  • On-site in Melbourne CBD
  • Start late February 2026 –  October 2026
  • $55/hour + super + lunch supplied

What you will be doing

  • Creating retail and venue campaigns from concept through to final delivery
  • Designing across print, signage, in-venue screens, wayfinding and supporting digital assets
  • Developing campaign ideas, not just executing from an existing style guide
  • Working quickly across multiple briefs in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Preparing accurate, production-ready artwork and handling text amends with confidence
  • Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and creative leads

What we are looking for

  • Strong experience designing retail or venue-based campaigns
  • Clear evidence of conceptual thinking, not just final executions
  • Confidence designing for print and physical environments, including signage and large format and screens
  • Excellent typography, layout and visual hierarchy skills
  • Advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Comfortable working at pace and switching between projects without losing attention to detail
  • Someone who can hit the ground running and deliver with minimal hand-holding

What this role is not

  • Not a social-only, paid media or performance design role
  • Not a UI, product or Figma-heavy role
  • Not suited to designers whose experience is primarily web, app or EDM execution
  • Not a role for someone looking to learn retail design on the job

How to apply

If you would like to apply for this role, we need to see examples of your conceptual work and how those ideas translated into a real brief and final outputs.

Your portfolio should show the journey from concept through to execution, particularly across retail, print or physical environments.

If you feel your portfolio genuinely matches this brief, please apply now.
